Player Profile

Leon Henry

Forward

#15

Leon Henry has been a very successful player during his young career in New Zealand playing for the New Zealand National Team, the Tall Blacks at the age of 24.  He has played in the NZNBL for 9 seasons winning 3 Championships in 2010, 2011 and 2013 as well as a CBL Championship in 2010 where he was CBL MVP.

In his first year with the Southland Sharks in 2013 he teamed up with former Crocodile, Brian Conklin, to bring the championship to Southland for the very first time and was named Final Four MVP along the way.

Henry was brought into the New Zealand Breakers team to replace an injured Kirk Penney in 2010 for the first 3 games of the season and upon Penney’s return, he continued to train with the team, eventually being granted a full contract for the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons.  The Breakers were NBL Champions for both of those seasons.

During his first season with the Crocs, he became a cult favourite with his toughness, determination and willing to fight for the ball.  This earned the praise of head coach Shawn Dennis who has re-signed the Kiwi for another season.

His performance flowed on in the offseason for the Wellington Saints in the NZNBL as he was named in the New Zealand Tall Blacks squad.

Leon played 1 year in Romania with CS Universitatea Mobitelco Cluj-Napoca for the 2008/09 season.  He also played at the Southern Idaho JC in America for 1 year.
