Mirko Djeric came to the Crocs after a short stint with the Wollongong Hawks. He played 8 games at the end of the 2013 seaosn for Wollongong including the NBL Semi Final Series against Perth where he caught the eye of future Crocs coach Shawn Dennis. Djeric, just a 17 year old at the time, held MVP Kevin Lisch to just 15 points.
He was selected to the U19 FIBA World Championships before being shot by a random gatecrasher in the leg at a party in Sydney’s west. A week later he was due to fly out with the Australian team to play in the Czech Republic. They would go on to finish fourth.
Djeric won a silver medal with the Australian U17 team at the FIBA World Championships.
Mirko was a scholarship holder at the AIS for 3 years in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Prior to the 2014/15 season, he changed his number from #3 to #16 this year in honour of one of his basketball heros, Serbian Peja Stojakovic in his Sacramento Kings days. He wore #3 in memory of Yugoslavian and Croatian legend, Drazen Petrovic during the 2013/14.
