Mitch Young joined the Townsville Crocodiles after spending two seasons with rivals the Cairns Taipans.
Young brought an impressive college pedigree to Townsville, having played alongside current Cleveland Cavaliers guard Matthew Dellavedova for the St Mary’s Gaels.
Together, Young and Delly were two of three players that started in all 35 games of the 2012/13 season, with Young registering 7.7 points and 5.6 rebounds in his senior year.
Young returned from college to play two seasons in the NBL with the Taipans.
During the 2013/14 season, Young was part of the Cairns Taipans’ historical line-up, helping them win the club’s first minor NBL premiership with a 21-7 record to take secure them a Grand Finals appearance.
The 23-year old averaged 2.7 points and 2.1 rebounds in the 2014/15 season and joins the rival Queensland team after two years with the Snakes.
During his first season with the Crocs, Young relished in more game time throughout the season particularly with the ankle injury to Luke Schenscher.
Young showed a lot on the defensive end with his shot blocking and rebounding abilities.
