The Townsville Croc’s Youth Hoops program is a great initiative which encourages young kids to get active, have fun and meet their favourite Crocs players.
These clinics are a great chance for the Croc’s younger fans to see their sporting heroes in action, while picking up valuable skills they can use while playing at schools or for their local clubs. The program focuses on basic basketball skills and caters for kids of all skill levels and abilities.
The program involves two Croc’s players visiting a local school and running 2 x 30 minute sessions with an extra 10 minutes at the end of each session to give the students the opportunity to ask the players any questions and get their autographs.
As part of this program schools also have the option of visiting the Croc’s at their own court where students will have the chance to watch a Crocodiles training session and tour the home of the Townsville Crocodiles.
The program runs in conjunction with the Crocs’ secondary school program, School of Hoops, and the ‘So You Think You Can Play’ challenge. These initiatives highlight the commitment the Crocs have to building strong community relationships with schools throughout the North.
With a number of local junior Mitch Norton growing up taking part in programs such as the School of Hoops, Mitch believe’s it is a great way to give back to the children who support their team.
